Seasons, Pilots, and Do No Harm
Greetings Choices Diehards! We’ve been fielding many questions about Pilots, Seasons, and why Do No Harm is only… gasp.. 8 chapters. So we come to you today with alllll the answers.
Pilot, pilot, what is a Pilot?!
No we aren’t talking about those folks who fly your plane. If you’ve heard of the concept of a TV pilot, this is very similar. We’ve been going deep into our data in the last year to see what stories you're most invested in, and what stories fell flat… You can think of us as being in data mode.
As part of that mindset, we’re exploring new ideas all the time. Pilots are a direct extension of that work... We created the Pilot category–a collection of 2 chapter “pitches” to see what concepts and storylines really appeal to you. You all liked a few of them SOOO much, we decided to greenlight them (another TV term) to a full season…
Wait a Season? You mean like a TV Season?!
Yes exactly! Each Pilot that we extend will expand to 8 chapters (including the original Pilot). If a Season does well enough, then we would expand the series and create a Season 2 which would be an additional 8 chapters. That would make it the same length as a normal Choices book.
But why wouldn’t you just make a full book at the beginning?!! I want more content NOW!
Oh we know! We want to give you as many books as possible! But we also want to make sure we don’t spend MONTHS making a full book that you hate. Pilots and Seasons give us the opportunity to see what you like in “mostly” real time and make sure we put the right content out as quickly as possible.
What happens to the pilots that don’t get a season? Will they be removed from the app as a decision or will they remain in the app?
We will continue to monitor performance on past pilots in case they see upticks in interest from players. But we don't currently plan to remove them from the game.
Wait, didn’t you say something about Do No Harm?
I did! Because you all liked our Do No Harm Pilot so much, we expanded it into a full season. And because that first season has been doing so well, we are about to drop Season 2 by the end of June! So buckle up for more mafia doctor mayhem because we have all the juicy, sexy drama to keep you tuning in for more!

What metrics are you looking at to determine whether a pilot or season is continued?
Chapter completions is the primary metric we’re looking at to determine if a pilot is green lit! Replays help too. Thanks for playing!!
